This tutorial will teach you how to create patterns in Photoshop. Free patterns located on the bottom of the page.

Final Result

Step 1
Create a new layer with the background transparent – Height 6px and Width 6px.

Step 2

Zoom in until you cant no more should be at 1600%. “Z” Is the keyboard shortcut for the zoom tool.

Step 3
Choose the pencil tool and set the master diameter to 1px. Then draw a line going from the bottom left corner to the top right corner.

Using the rectangular marquee tool select the whole layer.

Step 5
Go to Edit on the top menu. Choose define pattern, name it what ever you want.

Thats about it to see your pattern in action create a new layer with resolution at 800×600px – white background. Then go to Edit on the top menu choose Fill. For use option select pattern find the pattern we just created and click ok.
